The Maher Straddle Carrier fleet is designed to handle Out of Gauge pieces that are centered on the flat rack and are measured under 11ft. in width and weigh in less than 88,000 lbs.  For pieces exceeding these dimensions or weight, a crane lift will be required. Scheduling a crane lift involves pre-payment of all relative fees, as well as coordinating an appointment for the lift. Additionally, Break Bulk or any non-containerized cargo requires advanced scheduling and is subject to additional fees.

For all inquiries regarding scheduling, rates, and Break Bulk please contact us at CraneLifts@maherterminals.com.

Crane Lift Move Quick Facts:

  • The measured width of the OOG piece includes any lashing or blocking and bracing used to secure the freight to the flat rack.
  • Maher does not unload the freight from the flat rack or open-top container. The entire unit, as received, will be delivered to the driver.
  • Crane lift fees must be paid in full before labor orders are placed and service is rendered.
  • Invoices are generated after the service is completed and are available upon request.
  • OOG Export scheduling will be limited to the specific vessel’s “Open” receiving days, accessible through the Maher Website, unless otherwise coordinated and agreed to by Maher.
  • The 11ft. width is contingent on the freight being centered on the flat rack, any “overhang” to one side may require the use of a crane.

It is the responsibility of the trucker/shipper to ensure that the following are in place for a Crane Lift / OOG Move:

  • Ensure that applicable crane lift and storage fees are paid before terminal entry no later than 11am the prior business day so the appropriate Labor orders can be placed.
  • Confirm that all holds on the unit are cleared (Customs, Freight, etc….). This can be checked through the Maher customer service package.
  • Confirm that the driver has a valid TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) and Sea Link Card.
  • Secure any necessary permits and/or escorts for road travel.
  • Schedule and confirm the appointment for the move.
  • Ensure the appropriate chassis is secured to accommodate the cargo being picked up or delivered.
